The Leonia Public Library is seeking a creative and motivated Outreach and Marketing Intern to support the promotion of library services, programs, and events. This internship offers a valuable opportunity for students pursuing degrees in library science, communications, marketing, public relations, media studies, or related fields to gain real-world experience in a public-facing role that connects the library to its diverse community.

About the Role:
Under the supervision of the Library Director and other staff, the intern will contribute to the library’s outreach and promotional efforts. This includes managing and creating content for social media, assisting with library branding, developing outreach materials, and helping to expand the library’s visibility both online and in the community.

Responsibilities:
Create engaging content for the library’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)

Design flyers, newsletters, posters, and other promotional materials for library programs and services

Help maintain and update the library website and event calendar

Assist with planning and supporting outreach events, both on- and off-site

Capture photos and videos of library programs for digital promotion

Collaborate with staff to develop campaigns that highlight library resources, services, and collections

Monitor engagement metrics and provide reports on outreach impact

Help develop strategies for reaching underserved or new community groups

Attend community events representing the library (optional, based on schedule)

Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a degree program in communications, marketing, media, library science, or related fields

Familiarity with major social media platforms and current trends

Proficiency with basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express, or similar)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently

Willingness to learn and take initiative

Interest in libraries, community engagement, and public service

Preferred (but not required):
Experience with SquareSpace or similar website management systems

Basic photography and video-editing skills

Familiarity with public libraries and their role in the community

Bilingual abilities a plus—being conversational in Korean is especially helpful

Experience working with multicultural populations or promoting inclusive services
