Position Overview
Continuing and Professional Studies (CPS) is a growing unit within the Rutgers School of Communication and Information, offering innovative, career-focused programs for lifelong learners. CPS operates with a small business model, giving team members the opportunity to contribute across multiple areas and gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital engagement, and program promotion.
CPS is seeking an interdisciplinary student to support content creation across LinkedIn and the CPS website. This role is well suited for a student interested in professional communication, digital storytelling, and marketing. The Social Media Assistant will work closely with CPS leadership to translate seminars, webinars, and recorded events into concise, engaging content and to develop materials that promote CPS professional certificate programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation for LinkedIn and Web: Develop and schedule posts that promote CPS programs, events, and initiatives, and adapt content for the CPS website, including program highlights and promotional copy
- Video Production and Editing: Review recordings of seminars, webinars, and events to identify key insights, and produce short-form video content for LinkedIn and web use
- Visual Content Development: Create supporting graphics and branded materials using Canva to enhance digital content
- Content Planning and Collaboration: Work with CPS leadership to identify content opportunities and support execution of the LinkedIn content calendar in coordination with the Assistant Director
- Engagement and Analytics Support: Monitor LinkedIn engagement and assist in collecting, organizing, and analyzing performance data to inform ongoing strategy
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled Rutgers student
- Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to write for both social media and web audiences
- Experience editing video content using tools such as iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, Final Cut Pro, or similar
- Experience using Canva to create professional-quality graphics
- Ability to review longer-form content and identify compelling highlights for digital use
- Comfort working with data and basic analytics, with attention to detail in tracking and reporting
- Interest in social media, marketing, or professional communication
- Ability to manage tasks independently with guidance
Work Schedule and Compensation
- Part-time position on-site with flexible hours based on student availability
- Compensation in accordance with Rutgers student worker guidelines
