Project Description:
The NASA Archives preserves and provides access to historically significant materials relating to the NASA Agency’s history and organization. This opportunity is for an on-site archival intern who will be responsible for processing analog records relating to the JSC Aircraft Operations Division.
Meeting frequency/team dynamics: The intern’s primary mentor will be on-site and available in addition to weekly meetings. The rest of the office personnel are spread out across other NASA centers and communicate primarily via email and Microsoft Teams.
Working hours: Full-time interns (40h/week) are expected to complete working hours during the center’s core work hours of M-F 8AM-5PM.
Skills:
Computer/Software Skills: Experience using Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, Access to Memory (AtoM), or ArchivesSpace preferred.
Technical Skills: Understanding of archival theory, principles, and practices. Experience processing analog collections, performing holdings maintenance work on analog archival collections, and using archival description software. Knowledge of description standards (including DACS and ISAD-G), and the use of taxonomies and authority files for controlled vocabulary.
Soft Skills: Ability to work independently, excellent time-management, and communication.
