The Communications Assistant supports the Director of Communications and Marketing in the promotion of the Graduate School of Education (GSE). The Communications Assistant aids in the management of social media accounts including content development, posting, monitoring for and responding to comments using Sprout; providing website administration, including content updates and building new pages and programs as requested; assisting with email communications and marketing through MailChimp, including list management, development and distribution of emails; and supports the overarching GSE marketing strategy so that all channels and campaigns are integrated, professional, and brand- and mission-focused. The Communications Assistant drafts written pieces such as feature stories for web or print and assists with developing content for marketing campaigns. The Communications Assistant also provides general support as requested.

Other Responsibilities:

Execute marketing campaigns designed to:
Engage prospective students
Amplify work of faculty, alumni, students, and staff
Raise brand profile
Represent the GSE
Assist in the development and design of regular email newsletters
Develop graphics in Canva or other design software for web, social, and print
Assist in the coordination of GSE events and activities
Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel, and social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
Excellent writing, communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team setting
Capacity to manage several projects at once and consistently meet deadlines
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and pay attention to detail
Interest in equity and higher education.

Preferred Skills:

Interest or Major in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business
Experience Sprout, Canva, Qualtrics, Salesforce, Adobe InDesign, and/or Adobe Photoshop
Interest in graphic design, branding, writing, photography, videography, and video editing
Strategic thinker who makes data-informed decisions
Positive demeanor and outlook, ability to manage stress and self-regulate in the workplace
Experience with audio and video editing.

This position works 20-40 hours per week in summer, and up to 20 hours per week during the academic year. It is open to both undergrad and graduate students and is a hybrid role.
