National Grid

Our Gridtern Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will start with us on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking, opportunities to get involved in your community and most importantly, have fun!

What You’ll Do

Our Public Affairs & Policy Center of Excellence team, part of our Corporate Affairs organization, builds relationships with various government stakeholders, leads policy advocacy, and manages engagement with trade associations and think tanks. Corporate Affairs provides expertise in government relations, communications, and community engagement, while leading external-facing efforts to deliver a smarter, stronger, cleaner energy future for over 20 million customers across New York and Massachusetts.

As a Gridtern, you will engage in both in-person and virtual events and meetings, track state and federal legislative and political activity, and provide summaries to share with the wider team. You will also write newsletter updates for company-wide distribution, assist in developing slide decks for internal and external audiences, and conduct research projects. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the energy industry, National Grid’s business, and how policy and corporate affairs shape the energy landscape.

You will be in Washington, DC working in a Hybrid structure for the summer. You must be located within a commutable distance of the identified work location for the summer.
