Caldwell University invites applications for a full-time Librarian, Electronic Resources. Reporting to the Director of the Library, the Librarian, Electronic Resources has primary responsibility for electronic resources, collections and discovery. This professional librarian also participates in reference and instructional services and functions as a departmental liaison to faculty and students. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Electronic Resources and Serials Management

  • Responsible for cataloging and maintaining electronic resources management.

  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting for acquisition, management and delivery of e-resources; integration with library discovery systems; collaboration with campus network and website personnel; and vendor relations.

  • Helps shape policy, goals, and procedures for electronic resources.

  • Develops assessment strategies and conducts ongoing assessment based on usage, usability, overlap, and value to inform management decisions and improve library services.

  • Explores emerging technology trends, makes recommendations for adoption of appropriate technologies, manages technology at the library and promotes technological literacy.

  • Develops and collaborates on electronic resource access and integration projects with consortium and campus technical colleagues.

  • Supervises student workers in projects related to usability and user experience.

Reference and Instruction

  • Provides point of need instruction to students, faculty, and staff and teaches classes, as needed, in conjunction with a team of librarians.

  • Provides in-person and virtual reference services, including in-depth research employing a combination of print and electronic resources to consult/aid/assist students, faculty, and staff.

  • Serves as liaison to academic departments as assigned.

Collection Development

  • Develops collections in library liaison departments supporting the range of disciplines and course delivery methods.

  • Creates and updates library publications, including LibGuides, which foster the development of information literacy skills and competencies.

  • Works to expand emerging technologies to faculty and students and increase the incorporation of 3D printing and VR into the curriculum.

Covers one evening shift per week and Saturday on weekend staff rotation.

Master’s degree in Library and/or Information Science from an ALA accredited institution. Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems, Learning Management Systems, Content Management Systems, FTP, HTML, and electronic resource platforms plus high-level skills using Microsoft Excel, Access or other database management software is required. Computer knowledge necessary to perform technical support related tasks is also required. One to three years of academic library experience with knowledge of a variety of existing and emerging electronic resources is strongly preferred. Experience providing instruction and reference assistance in an academic library is also preferred. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, forward-thinking professional dedicated to proactive, user-centered service with the ability to innovate and thrive amidst rapid organizational and technological change. This person will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with minimal direction both independently and on teams. With the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
