The Phillip Capozzi, M.D. Library invites applications from graduate students in Library and Information Science for a short-term paid summer 2026 internship. This opportunity offers hands-on experience in academic librarianship, scholarly publishing, or archival work within a dynamic medical library environment starting July 1st, 2026.

Selected interns will gain valuable experience and have the opportunity to shadow professional librarians, and may choose one of three project tracks based on their interests:

History of Medicine Archives

Work with the library’s historical collections by assisting with digitization and automated transcription of primary sources in the history of medicine. This position requires the ability to work on campus in Valhalla, New York.

Scholarly Communication & Publishing

Gain experience in scholarly publishing workflows by helping edit and format a book of faculty publications using professional publishing software. This project allows for hybrid with the potential for remote work.

Education and Digital Resources

Organize and evaluate educational video content on our YouTube channel and identify videos or topics to be used in asynchronous research modules on Canvas for medical students interested in research. This project allows for hybrid with the potential for remote work.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant master’s program.
  • Ability to work 10 weeks during summer 2026 with a minimum of 12 hours per week (120 total hours)
  • Provide a presentation to library staff describing your experience as a final deliverable.
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in academic library work.

Interns will earn a summer stipend of $1,165.
