The North Brunswick Public Library is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Community Outreach and Engagement Librarian. We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed individual who is ready to make a difference in our community.

Position: Community Outreach and Engagement Librarian

Salary: A competitive annual salary between $58,000 and $64,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:  

Outreach and Engagement:

· Plan, coordinate, and participate in community outreach and engagement efforts and events

· Oversee our Homebound Delivery Service, extending the joy of reading to those unable to visit us

Marketing: 

·     Create compelling digital content to highlight our library programs and services

·     Maintain and update our website and social media platforms to keep our digital presence engaging

·     Write and distribute attention-grabbing press releases

·     Design visually appealing print flyers, a newsletter, and brochures

General: 

·     Contribute to the development of our library’s nonfiction collection

·    Plan, schedule, and lead programs that foster community engagement

·    Provide exceptional reference assistance at our library’s service desk

·    Design and maintain monthly displays that are both informative and inspiring

·    Carry out other duties as required, embracing the variety of tasks in librarianship

Skills and Knowledge: 

·   Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Twitter, YouTube, WordPress, Squarespace, Patron Point, Microsoft Suite

Qualifications: 

·   A Master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from an American Library Association accredited program

·  Valid Professional Librarian certification issued by Thomas Edison State University

·   Valid NJ Driver’s License and the ability to travel to off-site community outreach events

·   Exceptional customer service and communication skills

·    Understanding of 21st century public libraries

·    Experience with Internet, electronic databases, social media, and digital applications

·   Ability to work evenings and weekends

·   Successful completion of a background check

·   Drug testing may be required

·  Successful completion of a 90-day probation period

Work Schedule: 

· This is a full-time position with a 40-hour workweek, which includes regular evenings and weekend days

Compensation and Benefits: 

·  Salary range is $58,000 to $64,000

·  Benefits package includes paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, comprehensive health benefits, and enrollment in the PERS pension system
