The Program and Communication Assistant will support the Programs and Communications team at the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Equity, and Justice (Proctor Institute) and the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions (CMSI). The Assistant will be tasked with aiding in the management of social media accounts, podcasts, and Twitter Chats. The Assistant will also provide general programs and communications support associated with the Proctor Institute and CMSI.
Some other examples of responsibilities include:
Work alongside the communications team in developing tailored campaign strategy for research reports, initiatives, and programs.
Provide administrative support to the programmatic work of the Center/Institute.
Assist in the development and design quarterly newsletters for both the Center and the Proctor Institute.
Craft press releases and other written correspondence to assist in the promotion of the Center and the Institute.
Provide front desk coverage when needed
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
Competency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
Excellent writing, communication, analytical, and organizational skills
Willing disposition to work in a fast-paced team setting
Capacity to manage several projects at once and consistently meet deadlines
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and pay attention to detail
Interest in Minority Serving Institutions and higher education
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of Minority Serving Institutions
Experience in higher education
Competency with Google Docs
Experience using a variety of social media platforms
Experience using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop.
Experience with audio and video editing.
This position will work 10-15 hours per week during the summer, and 15-20 hours per week during the academic year. The position is open to both undergrad and master’s students.
Hourly pay: $15-$18 for undergraduate students; $18-$21 for graduate students
