Rutgers University - SEBS/NJAES Marketing

The Office of Public Outreach and Communication at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS) is looking for a public relations/content writer intern to work with our team and wide range of clients with multifaceted needs. Our team provides creative solutions for SEBS and the New Jersey Agriculture Experiment Station (NJAES) in both print and digital content using an integrated marketing communication strategy. We are offering a paid position for a Communication or Journalism student with a demonstrated skillset in creative writing, a capacity to function as a reporter for our Newsroom, and has creative vision to help reinvigorate the branding strategy of SEBS and NJAES through storytelling.

Responsibilities for Public Relations Intern

Identify and write stories for the SEBS/NJAES Newsroom
Review department’s media plan to work on relevant PR pieces
Proofread articles and media products before being published
Create fun and interesting social media posts and stories
Develop press releases related to special events
Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. brochures, magazine ads, social media, direct mail, and web)
Research and evaluate other universities’ marketing content to modernize our own

Qualifications for Marketing Intern
Communication or Journalism Major in Junior or Senior year
Ability to work for two consecutive semesters is preferred
Ability to work in the Cook Campus office at least 6 hours per week
Minimum GPA 3.2
Exceptional writing ability and story-telling vision within time-sensitive deadlines
Experience with content creation a plus, even if not professionally
Ability to take direction and absorb information quickly
A dedicated respect for sensitive matters and for all aspects of DEI
Outstanding multitasking abilities
