South River Public Library

South River Library seeks a part time Children’s Librarian.

A Children’s Librarian:

provides professional customer service to children and adults

provides reference and reader’s advisory services;

plans and produces programs for children ages 0-12;

assists in department collection development;

participates in community outreach

completes occasional administrative tasks.

required skills, knowledge, and ability:

knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of modern library operation

reader interest levels; children’s and young adult literature

library system computer applications

library reference materials and research techniques

establish and maintain effective working relationships with library customers and staff

communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
education and experience:
A Youth Services Librarian must have a Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited library school and some public library experience. (Will accept an MLIS Student for $23/ hour)
