The Tinton Falls Public Library, a Member Library of the Monmouth County Library (MCL) system, in Tinton Falls, NJ seeks an energetic, part-time Library Assistant to join our staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Charging and discharging library materials
  • Answering patron questions in person and on the phone
  • Issuing new library cards
  • Accepting payment for library fees
  • Shelving books, straightening, and organizing shelves
  • Preparing and repairing library materials for circulation
  • Assisting with programs as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED. Associate degree preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Competence in computer operations (Windows environment)
  • 2 to 3 years of previous library experience preferred.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Ability to repetitively bend and lift up to 25 lbs.

Schedule: 20 hours per week including day, evening, and Saturday hours. Specific schedule to be determined with Board approval as the Library is reopening after a long-term closure.

Compensation: $15.00 an hour. No benefits provided.
